Why should you as students use photo voice?

As middle school students using photo voice is fun and creative and helps people express themselves through their photos. Also, having different perceptions of the same concept and allowing students to think in different ways. Photo voice helps others around the environment to understand what could happen and issues that need to be fixed regardless of what language, culture, or other factors . The pictures provide evidence more powerful than words for the people who don’t believe what you’re trying to tell them and help take action. For example, taking multiple photos of familiar scenes or places and what they could do to help it. Photo voice is an easy process to help the environment without requiring people to stand up and speak in public.

What is photovoice?
Photovoice is a route where people- who have very little power due to circumstances (poverty, class, gender, race, etc.) using videos and photos that shows what is going on in different societies; that shows how people can stereotype other people, things, and where or the conditions of how they live. Also, it shows the ways that we can help people and help our earth or society. This project is can influence people to help and consider what we have and give us useful strategies to protect and conserve what we all have. Photovoice is a way that everyone can express what they think is wrong and how they can fix things in their own or other societies. The images shared can teach us what can and will happen if just a few people destroy parts of our environment; this can motivate us to better our environment/societies.

It could also benefit families, and children who also have no families that are often ignored by society. Some other organizations include schools and homeless shelters to make living conditions livable for everyone.  Finally, it would be used by people who need help with disabilities and health issues. Those are the people who would most likely want use photovoice to greatly improve and benefit their own society and keep everyone safe and healthy.

The Three main goals of Photovoice

Three main goals of Photovoice
1.    To give a voice to unheard people through photographs. That bring attention to things many people don’t think are important.

2.    To bring meaning to an object or natural resource that has lost its use. To bring back the use of an object that is no longer useful. For example, bring back an old baseball field so people can play there.

3.    To change the world in ways that it will improve the lives of others and our own. Bringing back a house that has been mistreated to provide a warm home for a new family.
